The story of BoxManager
A boxing manager game that started as a side project, grew a loyal crowd, went quiet for a few years and came back swinging in 2026.
- 5,997managers signed up
- 461,601fights fought
- 10years since the first bell
The first bell
BoxManager was created and developed by Higher Coding, with art and design by eSportsDesign and support from Norwich Boxing and Southpaw Jab. The first test events ran in July 2016. A year later, in July 2017, the game opened to everyone.
The idea was simple. Build a stable of real-world boxers from card packs, pick the right fight for each one and save your best for the title fight at the end of the card.

Growing the stable
The first months brought a middleweight division, Legendary events, Prospect events and legend cards in packs. Players talked about all of it in the forums: which divisions to add next, who deserved a legend card and how to beat the champion events.
2017 was the busiest year in the ring with more than 90,000 fights. 2018 brought the most new managers, 1,163 of them.
Some ideas took longer. In December 2017 a forum post described a gym with training slots. It finally opened in October 2026.
- 90,000+fights in 2017, the busiest year
- 1,163new managers in 2018
Back in the ring
The game went quiet in 2019. In October 2026 it came back under Mad Beans Games at boxingmanagergame.com. It was rebuilt to run safely on a modern server with a new look, an arena for every fight, the gym, limited events, player vs player events, new rankings and much more. Every change since is on the updates page.
